I had the good fortune to snag tickets for the very popular Dior show at the Victoria and Albert museum while I was in London trend collecting. Christian Dior was a master tailor as were many of the designers who followed in his footsteps when they did subsequent collections after his passing. Included in the collection were some works by Gianfranco Ferre, John Galliano, Yves St. Laurent, Raf Simons, and Maria Grazia Chiuri. The construction of the garments was amazing to view close up. There were “muslins” that were made created during numerous fittings for each of the clients that were every bit as fascinating as the finished garments. Colors were carried from provocative reds through pristine whites, ever present black, softest blush tones, many shades of pink and lavender along with other pastels, and heavenly blues. Every garment was a work of art and a testimony to fashion creativity.
These are works of art! They take your breath away in person!! So glad you were able to see this retrospective show!!
