My work in color consulting often takes me to destinations both far and near.  In fact, I just completed a flurry of activity that took me to three very different locations. I thought I’d share some of my color discoveries, especially from the perspective of architecture and interior spaces, since this has been on my mind recently because of my new course on using Colortime colors in interior design.A colorful wall mural in Brazil, featuring a Toucan, a blue parrot, a young woman with black curly hair, and vegetation.

In September, I traveled to Sao Paolo, Brazil, a city swathed in colorful art. There is hardly an exterior that is not emblazoned with multiple tropical hues from murals on the walls of public buildings and businesses.

The interiors are not so blatantly colorful, often deeper in tone, showcasing Brazillian wood finishings and furnishings. Their sense of whimsy is obvious in their interior artworks, and animals seem to be a favorite subject.

Then, in mid-October, I landed in Rimini, Italy, a seaside resort near Bologna, Italy. I stayed at the Grand Hotel, and “grand” is exactly what it is, filled with lovely antiques and surrounded by lush greenery.

The interiors were “traditional with a twist” with the historic architecture enlivened by numerous archways and pillars decorated with colorful Klimt-like drawings created by the multi-talented artist Giulia Caruso. A colorful archway in a hotel, with a checkerboard wall and kilmt-style figures.

At the end of October, I was invited by Pasquale Natucci, the creative director of Natucci Leathers, to speak in High Point, NC, during the furniture market week. To my delight, their newest collections feature a concept called “Harmony Codes” which is very closely allied to the Crossover colors included in my Colortime system.  I am delighted that this venerable line has chosen many of the same classic hues, tints, undertones, and shadings!Color expert Leatrice Eiseman speaks to a group at the highpoint furniture show
